Georgia slave quarters process pictures:

Bass and Balsa wood construction with wood glue. In scale, siding ranged from 6” to 14” in width.

Cabin nearly completed with porch installed with posts. Roof frame complete, but needs to be stained and have shingles applied.

Shingles were made of corn husk cut into strips. Each strip was applied using double sided tape, then painted to the desired look.

My test paint sample I made before painting the three cabins. I stained the wood with a black/brown wash. Then I stippled ceramacoat white paint on top. Then, I weathered the finish with a series of black, brown, yellow, and green washes.

Scale period furniture I created with balsa wood and toothpicks.

I painted the first wall of Mabel’s cabin while looking at my paint sample.

All the brick work was hand carved out of pink XPS foam. Then it was textured with rocks, aluminum foil, and a hammer.
